How to stop worrying is, for many people, a question they have not found an answer to no matter how hard they have tried.
Fortunately, Reiki is a proven way to stop this destructive habit.
One of the most important aspects of the Reiki Principles is the phrase, “Just for today.” If you were to promise yourself, when repeating the Principles, that you would never again be angry, or never again worry, or always be kind to others – well that’s quite hard to live up to!
So making a promise to ourselves that we won’t get angry today, or won’t worry today, means we only have to try one day at a time.
This feels like an achievable goal, whereas 365 days a year feels like a lot of pressure! And if, on occasion, we don’t quite manage to live up to the Principles, well, tomorrow is another day; we can just start again, one day at a time.
We are all human, so it’s unlikely that any of us will manage to keep permanently to the spirit of the Principles, at least not at first.
Worry causes stress and anxiety leading to an imbalance of the mind, body and spirit. It also blocks the root chakra. The best way to overcome worry is to accept that all of us are faced with difficulties and setbacks in our life. If you choose to respond negatively by getting upset and anxious towards one of life’s setbacks you have chosen to damage the balance of you mind, body and spirit.
If you respond positively by accepting the setback, as an opportunity, to learn you can live a happier and more fulfilling life. Worrying can be a habit we get into, but no matter how much worrying we do, it will never achieve anything or change anything; it just makes us feel dreadful.
Fear is often based on negative beliefs about life or the the world, so, for example, if you have a general belief that life is a struggle, or that the world is a dangerous place, it will color your judgment about what happens to you, and it will become a focus for worrying about things like lack of money, or losing your job or being alone.
Whatever problem or situation you are worried about, if there is some action you can take to improve matters, then take it. Even talking things over with someone else can help, and very few things turn out to be as bad as we’ve anticipated! Allow yourself time each day to really laugh and have fun. Watch a funny movie or show. Read a humorous book or magazine. Whatever it takes to make you laugh – do it.
Laughter is a wonderful healer. It has been proven through numerous studies that laughter can heal and in some cases prevent life threatening illnesses. Use this knowledge to live a healthier and longer life. Take responsibility for how you deal with life’s setbacks. Have fun – life’s too short to waste it worrying.
